The LEC will return to the summoners rift on the 20th March 2020.
The decision was made for the LEC to take a break from matches as a precaution to the spread of the coronavirus.
The European Championship returns this weekend with Riot Games making arrangements for the remaining matches to be played remotely online.
The LEC show will be broadcast from the homes of production and broadcast staff. It’s been requested that plays play from their respective training centres.
It also comes with a slight to change to the schedule. A planned break week has been removed and the games will be played each consecutive weekend up until the finals on are played on April 18/19th.
The changes are sure to hamper the usual high quality production of the show but it’s good to see the decision has been made to put peoples safety first.

Tournaments for other games have been cancelled including The Call of Duty League and ESL events across the board, however only the LEC, LCS and the Overwatch League have made the decision to move to online matches.
Outside of esports the coronavirus has seen the suspension of many expos and events such as E3 and the Insomnia Gaming Festival in Birmingham.
